  • Exceptional

I was scrolling through LinkedIn videos and was pleasantly surprised when Jessi popped up. She was selling anything and wasn’t promoting herself - she was honestly trying to convey information to make others prosper. Once I figured out she held a podcast I stopped what I was doing and found myself listening to the most meaningful podcast of my life - the replay of the 2020 Burnout episode. Wow, just wow!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Case for Working Slower with Cal Newport
Q: What is the fundamental shift Newport advocates for in productivity?
Shift from measuring productivity by activity and busy work to measuring it by long-term outcomes, with fewer active projects and more breathing room to produce high-quality results.
Busy But Not Productive? Daniel Pink on How to Fix It
Q: How can professionals ensure they're not just doing tasks faster but choosing the right tasks?
Start the week by identifying three most important goals and continually check if daily actions align with those three, adjusting as needed.
Why Baratunde Thurston Fired ChatGPT—and What he Learned
Q: What prompted you to move from ChatGPT to Claude, and what did that shift teach you about relationships with tools?
The move highlighted that these tools talk back and shape you in real-time; it showed me there's value in evolving partnerships with AI where you're learning about yourself through the tool, while also recognizing the limits and unique strengths of each platform.
Why Baratunde Thurston Fired ChatGPT—and What he Learned
Q: Baratunde, have you used these tools, and what have they taught you about yourself?
Yes, I've used them aggressively, but the more important takeaway is how they reveal patterns in my thinking, preferences, and even blind spots, pushing me toward new modes of collaboration with others and with technology.
Why a Break From Work Might Be the Best Career Move You'll Ever Make
Q: What counts as a sabbatical, especially when people lose their job or are facing layoffs?
A sabbatical is not simply job loss; it is a deliberate pause to imagine new possibilities, learn, experiment, and potentially start new meaningful work, with the duration long enough to shift responsibility within organizations and open space for reinvention.
