  • Less Stress/More Joy Episode

Some of the content from the guest on this episode was interesting but the delivery was so frustrating to listen to. She was all over the place and it was hard to follow all the lists she went through because she bounced around so much.

  • So much fantastic content!

While I have been a loyal listener for many years there were hundreds of podcasts that I had NOT listened to. Over the past several months and during my early morning walks I have been listening to or reviewing all of the podcasts that were "unplayed" on my podcast player.

Wow! There was so much rich, or should I say awesome, information and content. There were interviews with expert researchers, leaders, executive coaches, and others that I knew of their work but did not realize that Pete had ... more

  • Mattering at Work (8/11/25, EP 1083)

During my early morning walk this morning (8/11/25) I listened to episode 1083 in which Pete interviews Zach Mercurio. The title "How Tiny Actions Inspire Others Through Mattering" highlighted what I have often observed in some corporate worlds: the high levels of disengagement. Dr. Mercurio discusses "mattering" and "anti-mattering" that for me clearly explained what can lead to disengagement.

If you have thought about engagement and disengagement at work check this podcast out!

1159: Precise Word-for-Word Scripts For Flourishing at Work with Erin McGoff
Q: Could you maybe kick us off by sharing, what's a piece of advice you've offered that's been counterintuitive such that folks are like, no way, but you just staunchly believe, no, this is in fact the way.
Erin explains that small talk, properly understood, isn't a filler but a bridge to trust; it signals you're not a threat and helps build rapport before diving into deeper topics.
1156: How to Make Great Meetings that Stop Wasting Time with Rebecca Hinds
Q: What do you consider the big idea behind your approach to meetings, and how should listeners start applying it in their organizations?
Treat meetings as a product with intentional design, applying product design principles to purpose, attendees, agenda, and cadence to ensure meetings move work forward rather than merely checking a box.
1156: How to Make Great Meetings that Stop Wasting Time with Rebecca Hinds
Q: Could you share with us perhaps one of your most surprising, fascinating, counterintuitive discoveries you've made while you're putting together your best meeting ever?
A key insight is the Babel Hypothesis: people who talk more are perceived as leaders, even if their contribution isn't actually more valuable, which highlights how power dynamics and talking time can distort leadership impressions in meetings.
1157: How to Improve Processes, Remove Friction, and Accelerate Innovation with Jon McNeill
Q: Could you tell us the story about joining Tesla and the demand problem you addressed?
Jon explains how Elon Musk highlighted a demand problem and how he investigated the issue by analyzing test drives, leads, and callbacks, ultimately forcing a rapid change in how leads were handled to unlock orders.
