  • Not a fan of new format

I’ve positively reviewed this podcast before, but the new format with Dr Roc is not for me. I feel like many times questions are asked and not answered because he gets distracted and ends up completely off topic. I definitely enjoyed the old format where it was just Dr. Laurie and guests.

Are You Chasing a Finish Line That Keeps Moving?
Q: How can feedback be handled constructively without damaging self-esteem?
Receive feedback with curiosity, separate your self-worth from the critique, and use it to iterate rather than condemn. If feedback lands hard, pause, reflect, and decide which suggestions to incorporate, recognizing that not every comment defines truth or value.
Are You Chasing a Finish Line That Keeps Moving?
Q: What practical steps can someone take to prevent crossing the line into perfectionism?
Ask yourself questions like how much time you're spending, whether the change justifies the time, and seek external feedback to calibrate. Learn to differentiate helpful feedback from personal attack, adopt a growth mindset, and focus on tangible progress over perfect outcomes.
Are You Chasing a Finish Line That Keeps Moving?
Q: What is perfectionism, and how does it differ from striving to do well?
Perfectionism is the pursuit of an ideal that is constantly out of reach, causing people to delay, revise, or avoid finishing because nothing ever feels good enough. It differs from healthy striving in that it hinges on an unattainable standard and leads to self-judgment and repetitive loops rather than productive momentum.
