  • Wide-ranging yet Specific!

I’m always surprised by the wide range of issues and topics covered each week, yet the thoroughness of their research and understanding. They don’t simply regurgitate headlines or points you’d see elsewhere, they bring unique insights which I’m not otherwise exposed to. I’m not always a fan of the banter between Jack and Jennifer, but this podcast is so educational I keep listening!

  • Do not listen if you care about special education and students with disabilities

To be fair to the hosts, they mention at one point that special education is not a topic they have focused on. But when they do, their approach is incredibly ignorant. Example:

Host - let’s talk about the impact of pandemic school closures on special education and how it was hard on students with disabilities

(Proceeds to not talk about students at all - not how it was hard, not whether such students were able to access their education during this time, not that many students went two years wi... more

  • Crucial listen

As an educator and education researcher I find Have You Heard indispensable for its timely and pertinent content. A favorite episode is the one with Celeste Lay discussing especially the political implications of charter schools and parents losing voice in schools.

  • Finally! A voice against neoliberal education chat.

As a New Zealander, I’ve always felt sorry for U.S. children who are stuck in a market-driven Edtech sales machine of a education system. This podcast starts to present the alternative and correct view that the U.S. system needs to refocus and essentially start again.

  • Worth hearing

As a parent, I’d recommend this to other parents, and everyone who claims to care about the quality of education and care our children are receiving.

As a teacher, I wish my colleagues, admin, superintendent and school board would also give this show a listen.
