Absolutely loved this episode!! I would love if Musa is able to bring Baba Bilal back on to discuss the Dar-Ul-Islam Movement more in-depth. I’ve often heard Dhoruba Bin-Wahad also speak on this Movement. I’m curious to know it’s present state of affairs and what we can do as Black/New Afrikan Muslim (myself included) to revitalize this Movement throughout that masjids nationwide. We must continue to push for Imam Jamil’s release but also make that push known in our local masjids as best we can.... more

The Radical Practice of Harm Reduction
Q: What keeps you grounded in this work over the years?
Faith, family, and a commitment to empowering youth; a desire not to rely on leaders to save the day but to train and uplift the next generation of organizers who will carry the work forward.
The Radical Practice of Harm Reduction
Q: What are some key lessons organizers can take from the Paterson model and the harm reduction work described?
Find your tribe and build supportive networks, start with small, concrete actions that can scale gradually, and focus on community-driven institutions rather than waiting for top-down solutions; prioritize accessibility, trust, and long-term presence over flashy, short-term campaigns.
The Radical Practice of Harm Reduction
Q: And so, how would you define the term harm reduction?
Harm reduction is a practice and a theory born from Black, queer, and trans communities that aims to reduce the harms produced by systems of domination, recognizing people's autonomy and capacity to survive, and expanding supports even if they are not ready or able to stop using substances.
The Class Warfare In Black Atlanta Primer
Q: How do you understand the Metro Atlanta areas in relation to the gentrification of the city?
Metro areas are seen as rural deserts lacking the resources needed for viable communities, reflecting a deliberate strategy to proliferate economic instability among Black residents.
The Class Warfare In Black Atlanta Primer
Q: Can you provide us a nice definition of the term 'Class Warfare'?
Class Warfare in Black Atlanta critiques the political economy of urban space and highlights how Black workers understood their conditions as colonized subjects seeking to gain control over their own labor and destiny.
