I know Functional Medicine can be costly as sometimes cost that out of pocket . By putting all this information out there. Dr. Gordon and Dr. Parpia are providing incredible value to patients and physicians alike.

  • Incredibly Insightful and Thoroughly Researched

Recommended by a family friend, I was skeptical at first, but then I listened to a couple episodes and was quite surprised by how well presented and evidence-based everything is. The episodes on Long COVID made me rethink my own perceptions of the pandemic and our health system today

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Septet Model for ME/CFS and Long COVID
Q: What are your thoughts on the overlap between ME/CFS and long COVID, and how do you begin to parse the difference between them?
They are virtually the same for most patients unless long COVID presents organ-specific disabilities; most long COVID cases fit ME/CFS criteria and share underlying infection-mediated processes.
Understanding Bioregulators: Epigenetic Switches for Healing and Recovery
Q: How do bioregulators work at a mechanistic level?
Bioregulators deliver tiny amino-acid sequences that survive digestion, are transported into cells, enter the nucleus, and bind to DNA to upregulate essential proteins, thereby restoring normal gene expression and tissue function.
How Trauma Sets the Stage for Chronic Illness
Q: What are the five physiologic steps that create the trauma response?
The five steps begin with the nervous system transitioning through three states (parasympathetic cruising, sympathetic stress, and trauma physiology), starting with a startle response and escalating to adrenaline-driven stress, then potentially to a brake-pulled trauma response that can shut down energy and digestion when capacity is insufficient.
Why Breathing Patterns Matter for Chronic Illness
Q: So what do you mean by functional breathing, and how is it different from typical breathwork?
Functional breathing refers to the ongoing, everyday pattern of breathing—whether through the nose, with the diaphragm expanding, and at a calm rate—rather than a scheduled, formal breathwork session. It's about how you breathe all the time to support safety in the nervous system and optimal oxygen delivery, not just during a practice.
How Unhealthy Family Dynamics Drive Complex Chronic Illness
Q: Can you give us an example?
Family constellation therapy reveals unconscious dynamics that have impacted a person's life, helping them understand their emotional entanglements and triggers related to chronic illness.
