  • The Guide We Desperately Needed

This podcast hits close to home, literally. My daughter dealt with mold illness and ended up moving in with us because of it. At the time we had no idea how serious mold exposure could be or that it could happen in a regular home. I wish we had found Tracy then. She is the guide we were desperately searching for and didn’t know existed. If your family is struggling with unexplained symptoms or chronic illness please listen. It could change everything.

78 | Chronic Illness, Mold & Faith: Trusting God When Healing Feels Impossible with Heather O'Brien
Q: What would you tell someone who feels emotionally exhausted and spiritually defeated by chronic illness?
Start with worship and thanksgiving, seek community, listen to the Word, and consider a structured approach to hearing God's voice through a coach or mentor who can help you get to the root of the struggle.
78 | Chronic Illness, Mold & Faith: Trusting God When Healing Feels Impossible with Heather O'Brien
Q: How do you know it's God's voice and not your own or the devil?
It's not always clear, but you can test guidance against Scripture and the fruit of the Spirit, seek confirmation and wise counsel, and be open to God redirecting you if needed; you learn to discern over time and through practice.
76 | She Lost Her Home to Toxic Mold-Now Her Mold Dog Finds What Inspectors Miss with Lindsay Reeves
Q: How did Lindsay come to Mold Dog work and what was the turning point for your family?
The turning point was recognizing the connection between their deteriorating health and the family's moldy home, leading to the decision to hire a mold inspector, relocate, and eventually pursue a mold-detecting dog to help others.
72 | Can You Hear God’s Voice? 3 Ways to Know It’s Him with Megan Nilsen
Q: What should someone do if they're praying but not getting an answer?
Consider changing the question or perspective, acknowledge that God may have already answered in a way you don't like, and recognize that God can trust you to act with joy and discernment even without a binary yes/no. Also, cultivate stillness to hear better.
72 | Can You Hear God’s Voice? 3 Ways to Know It’s Him with Megan Nilsen
Q: How do you know if what you're hearing is God's voice and not your own thoughts, especially when outcomes aren't clear?
There isn't a guaranteed clear direction, but you can start by not dismissing the thought, testing it against Scripture, and asking God to confirm. If it aligns with God's character—love, reconciliation, and unity—it's worth paying attention. If it leads away from the gospel or creates heaviness, it may require re-evaluation.
