  • Taking too fast

Make sure to have your guests speak at a normal pace. It was hard to consume info in the first episode as one of the speakers appeared to be reading vs. speaking freely.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

GCP #126: CICA's Dan Towle, and 831(b) captive owner Drake Plastics
Q: Can you perhaps tell me why you are part of this lawsuit and the impact that the regulations have had on you guys as a firm and your captive?
We're engaged in this lawsuit because the IRS regulations make compliance burdensome, pushing businesses away from the tax election created by Congress.
GCP #126: CICA's Dan Towle, and 831(b) captive owner Drake Plastics
Q: So, Dustin, what is the main role of the SRA 831B Admin in supporting microcaptives?
We are an 831B administrator for our clients, aiming to make 831B a standard practice in the business community.
GCP #126: CICA's Dan Towle, and 831(b) captive owner Drake Plastics
Q: What is your kind of, I guess, general reaction to that news of that latest new domicile emerging?
I'm super excited about what the UK has done here. It's a first step, but there's still much more to do to make it work.
GCP Short: Building pension captives
Q: So, Mike, tell me about this captive structure that we're talking about and how it works.
The pension fund enters into an annuity contract with a life insurer, which then reinsures the risk into the sponsor's captive, allowing the captive to manage assets and liabilities.
GCP Short: Building pension captives
Q: Tell us then, Alex, in terms of bringing pension captives to the fore, which is what we're going to talk about today, has there been any new developments or innovation which is making this particularly relevant right now?
Yes, there have been significant improvements in funding levels across UK pension schemes, prompting companies to reconsider their options for insuring benefits externally versus managing them through captives.
