  • Slash-tastic!

I was looking for some critical discussion on “All The Colors of the Dark”, and was really happy to find this podcast.

I had a long drive and ended up listening to 6 episodes or so. I’m a huge fan of these movies, so it’s great to hear fellow enthusiasts with some well informed chat about them.

Just listened to the “Malignant” ep. Cool analysis.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

ALL-AMERICAN MURDER (1991) x Overlook Film Festival 2026
Q: Would you pair this film with any other titles, based on themes or vibes?
Yes, pairing it with The Fugitive for a contrast between investigative pursuit in a dramatic thriller and a pure action-mystery dynamic, or with Man Hunter for closer Giallo-adjacent mood and atmosphere.
ALL-AMERICAN MURDER (1991) x Overlook Film Festival 2026
Q: How did Christopher Walken's performance shape the film's investigation vibe?
Walken's presence gave the detective a unique rhythm and authority, anchoring the film's tension even when the plot leaned on misdirection and suspect dynamics.
ALL-AMERICAN MURDER (1991) x Overlook Film Festival 2026
Q: What stood out to you the most about All-American Murder in the context of the Overlook Film Festival lineup?
The blend of classic Giallo aesthetics with American slasher textures stood out, especially the restrained use of gore and the sharp dialogue that drives the mystery forward more than flashy visuals.
THE HOUSE WITH LAUGHING WINDOWS (1976)
Q: Can you tell the listeners if there's anything interesting that you've been watching recently, maybe any new releases?
I discuss several newer releases and then tie them back to Giallo in general, highlighting how contemporary horror can reflect and amplify the themes found in classic giallo like The House With Laughing Windows.
