  • Great beginner guide

Fun & helpful podcast to help get up to speed geocaching. I recently started, prompted by what to do during COVID with my 4 yr old. Just got my first FTF and same day heard the tale of shadowdragn1’s first FTF. Your advice & info is great. Thanks! (MJ in CA.)

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start teaching geocaching events?
Keep it bite-sized and simple, focus on traditional caches first, and share practical tips in manageable chunks so beginners aren't overwhelmed; use real-world examples and invite them to learn with a connection to someone more experienced.

Q: What role did Women Who Explore play in your geocaching path?
The Women Who Explore group provided a community-focused platform that blended outdoor activity with geocaching, allowing me to teach classes online and in person through ambassadors, and it helped me build a local network around hiking and caching.

Q: How did your journey from teaching in coffee shops to becoming a state park geocaching interpreter begin?
I started independently with a local coffee shop, ran a quick intro with fake caches to teach the basics, and gradually connected with the North Dakota State Parks, which led to a formal interpreter role and opportunities to place and maintain caches.
