Back in the day, a major sitcom doing a gay episode was a big deal. A proper gay episode would get headlines, but it would get the attention of two young guys who were still figuring things out — sexuality-wise and culture-wise. Gayest Episode Ever has screenwriter Glen Lakin and stay-at-home journalist Drew Mackie going through the great and not-so-great gay episodes of sitcoms past.

I am not a major sitcom aficionado and have only seen maybe 1/4 of the shows discussed on this podcast, but that never detracts from any episode — it’s always a good listen and a thoughtful, funny conversation without fail, and makes me appreciate pop culture far beyond what I would ever expect.
Super engaging deep dives into tv and queer culture and history. They cover a wide variety of shows ranging from Saturday morning cartoons to metv staples to currently airing shows.
I enjoy this podcast. I think their takes on certain series episodes are insightful and interesting. They are extremely critical of Friends and Will & Grace, which are shows I enjoy(ed), but that doesn’t bother me. Cause the best 90s sitcom that was constantly overlooked (IMO) was 3rd Rock from the Sun. I would love it if they were to do an episode on Xena (even tho it’s not a sitcom), which was a super important show to me as kid.
I’m one of the straight guys who turned Andrea on to the show.
Five Stars!!
Two of my joys in life are being gay and diving into the excruciating minutiae of classic tv shows … and this one scratches both itches! Drew and Glenn’s informed, humorously dry, somewhat cranky analysis always delivers. And thank you for often providing links where we can watch the show being talked about. Any chance you could throw some game shows in the mix?
