  • Extremely Helpful!!

As a new collegiate track and field coach, Vern and Martin bring so much to the table relative to information and topics and their own experience. They are sure to say that they are not the end-all be-all of the topics of discussion but rather give a ton of information, book recommendations, and insights to the world of track and field and the rabbit hole that you can get into with regards to training ideas.

  • Sound & Mature Advice

Finally, I’ve found a no-hype, fact-based source for personal physical performance management and improvement. I’ve just finished listening to my first 3 podcasts: lessons learned, polarized training and recovery and have instantly improved my training and recovery. Answered some questions I had as well confirmed my gut feel about how I’ve been continually improving my performance. I’m a 59 year old serious recreational cyclist and I’ve never had the benefit of a coach. I feel I do now. Thanks G... more

297: The female athlete (with Morgan Smith)
Q: So why don't you kind of give us your journey through academia and how you ended up here?
Morgan outlines her shift from pre-med orientations toward strength conditioning and research, moving from Florida to Auburn for a PhD focused on resistance training in untrained female adults, then joining Stanford through a postdoc with the Wusii alliance to blend research with applied performance work for female athletes.
292: Explore and exploit (with Alex Hutchinson)
Q: Can you explain a little bit about that explore-exploit dilemma and then how that applies then to exploration beyond the business world?
The explore-exploit dilemma is about the choices we make in life, ranging from simple decisions like what to order at a restaurant to larger societal issues, balancing exploration and exploitation depending on the context.
279: Athlete profiling (with Jason Hettler)
Q: What was it like when you first got to IMG Academy and what were your first steps?
When I first started at IMG, it was an eye-opening experience in a large organization with many moving parts, where I realized I wanted a deeper involvement in specific sports, leading to my current focus on tennis.
