Fun and hugely informative. Well done. Many thanks.
Rich, kind and inspiring. It gives a wonderful insight into Gaelic culture.
I have thought about all that was said in episode 4 and it was so great to hear other ladies saying it out loud too. I have loved the wailing songs and Scottish songs with similar themes and find them important but also struggle with how/where to present them, and you all put my thoughts into words. Wonderful. I perform Scottish and Irish tunes and also play at local sessions in America. For years when people wonder what I like/ why I play Celtic music, I say that I love how the songs tell st... more
I enjoyed listening to every episode, and learned so much about gaelic songs as they are rooted in the lives of those who created and sang them, at home, around the Scottish diaspora. Great presenter and wonderful guests. Fascinating!
Is e pod-craoladh sgoinneil a th’ ann, tha mi air an t-uabhas ionnsachadh, abair tlachd a th’ ann a bhith ag èisteachd. Aoighean fiosrachail, guth brèagha aig Deirdre. Cha b’ urrainn na b’ fheàrr… An aon rud a dh’iarainn… ‘s e is gum biodh e sa Ghàidhlig!
Beautifully presented with fresh insights from a range of guests on Gaelic songs. Thoroughly recommend a listen.
Beautifully presented Gaelic song stories. Giving life to songs from past times. Great to listen to the background to these songs and keeping them alive today.
Gaelic Song Stories is a best Podcast l have ever heard. It is absolutely fascinating in its wealth of shared knowledge. The presentation is just superb. Although low key, it is full of warmth and bubbling with wisdom. These are tremendous lectures, each one. They are as accessible as conversations with old friends. My only regret with these podcasts is that l didn’t hear them 40 years ago . I cannot wait for the next series. A massive thanks to Deidre Graham. Absolutely Brilliant!

I just stumbled upon this podcast by accident and randomly decided to listen to it. I am enjoying it so far and hope that more episodes are made. This lady has such a lovely voice and the conversation is very informative. I feel like I’m right there, sitting in a coffee shop with them listening to the conversation and songs.
I’ve very much enjoyed your first two episodes, and I look forward to hearing more. Tapadh leibh!
As someone who plays bagpipes and who is enamored with Scottish culture, I find this podcast to be very interesting and edifying. Highly recommend it for people who love Gaelic Song and who want to learn more about it!
