What a well produced, compelling podcast helping to further shine a light on the US prison system. What a waste of money, hopes, time - that could all be put towards helping people move forward. There’s a movement to change how our prison system functions, here’s hoping this podcast helps make that happen.
Thank you for this podcast. The show is fun to watch and hits home but this is absolutely gets to the nitty gritty. more
I always knew that our prison industrial complex was corrupt - watching OITNB made me see it from a different perspective. We are taught that prisoners are inherently bad, dangerous, evil. I never thought much about the prison system before the light OITNB spread on it. I was so anxious to listen to the first episode and it did not disappoint. I’m hooked not for a good story, but because of the issues incarcerated women are facing. When you don’t see it, you don’t think about it which I imagine makes these women feel even more isolated from society. Thank you for the work you are doing. It is working. I’m proof.
