Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Robert P.K. Mooney
Q: How did you transition from being a victim to becoming an agent of change in your own life?
By realizing I had the power to choose my actions and responses, I stopped reacting impulsively in traumatic moments and started making deliberate choices that led to better outcomes, including focusing on education and relationships.
Robert P.K. Mooney
Q: Can you share the six keys to success you mention in your book?
The six keys include recognizing you can do it, guarding your ability to choose, not letting trauma steal your agency, knowing you are not alone, leveraging education, and using generosity or reciprocity to build a supportive network.
Single Foster Mom, Beth Schneider
Q: What led you to foster care in the first place?
Foster care has been a core part of her life since childhood; early experiences with extended family and a call she felt from God led her to start fostering, despite practical concerns like her living situation and full-time job.
Project Orphans - Brittany Rae Stokes
Q: What are some of the hardest issues you've faced in starting Project Orphans?
The most challenging part has been the overwhelming need and the emotional burden of so many dependents, which they combat by faith-based perseverance, seeking God's guidance, and by building a strong, ongoing network of support rather than attempting to do everything alone.
Project Orphans - Brittany Rae Stokes
Q: All right, so how did Project Orphans come about?
Brittany explains starting the NGO in 2011 with a friend, initially building smaller homes for families who had already fostered orphans, and gradually expanding to Uganda where a full-fledged operation grew with staff and services.
