I can really relate to this as an ex- Primary PRU Deputy and SENCO! It is vital not to take verbal abuse personally and the children are indeed good at homing in on your ‘weak spot’! However it is also important that they don’t see this as something to ‘get away with’ although if they are in fight/flight mode you need to address it when they are calm! As Adele says refocusing on the work is important (swearing is often a work-avoidance strategy) and the broken record approach is useful!
