  • Very useful

I’ve listened to 17 of Nicky’s podcasts and whilst some are not relevant to me e.g. how to communicate with your teenage children, I have still taken away lessons from them o shared with friends.

Only reasons it’s not 5* is the audio issues!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Boys Don’t Ask For Help And How Schools Can Change That
Q: What did your participation group identify as the main barriers for boys accessing mental health support in school?
Barriers included stigma around masculinity, fear of peers noticing when they sought help, and a lack of accessible channels. They emphasized the need for discreet, relatable, and timely ways to access support, which informed the QR self-referral idea and the redesign of help-seeking pathways.
Why Boys Don’t Ask For Help And How Schools Can Change That
Q: Can you explain the age range you work with in schools and why you started with boys in years 8 to 10?
Years 8 to 10 cover ages roughly 12 to 15, a critical window where attitudes toward masculinity form and mental health issues often first emerge. Focusing on this group allows co-produced interventions to shape help-seeking behaviors before more entrenched patterns develop.
How Sharing Our Stories Turns Grief Into Connection With John Kammer and Nicky Perfect
Q: What makes Guardian Angels different from traditional therapy or talking to a person?
Guardian Angels provides structured journal prompts and an empathetic AI presence designed to help people articulate grief between therapy sessions, serving as a bridge rather than a replacement for human relationships or professional care.
How Sharing Our Stories Turns Grief Into Connection With John Kammer and Nicky Perfect
Q: Can you explain the empty chair technique and the letter-writing exercise in more detail?
They are psychodrama methods where you write a letter to the person you've lost and sit facing an empty chair to speak to them as if they were there, which helps articulate unresolved feelings and invites a sense of closure or dialogue.
Listening Saves Lives
Q: What does it mean to live with the guilt of being a family member of someone who's taken their own life?
It allows me to bury that guilt a little bit by doing something really, really positive.
