I love that Craig and Ollie disagree on points, but they do so with the utmost respect for each other’s perspective and expertise, and as a result they achieve a consensus. Many non-teachers would do well to listen and learn from the excellent model for how to debate. The episodes are always thought-provoking and make me wish I had more time to plan my lessons from scratch again!
Although my allegiance as an Australian does lie with Craig’s rival, Ollie Lovell, I would not miss an episode of Mr Barton, especially when he says, ‘flippin heck.’ Craig always asks the questions that we are sometimes a bit shy to ask for fear of looking foolish. Does anyone else bop along to the theme tune and try and time the ‘hellooooo and welcome’ with Craig’s? This podcast is practical and you feel smarter at the end. Five stars Mr Barton.
Honest, openminded, turbo energy, detailed perspective!

After more than 100 hours of fun listening from Denmark I begin to get it.
Recently I had been feeling very uninspired after 8 years of teaching and was considering leaving the profession. Almost all professional development provided by my school was of a very low quality and didn’t improving my teaching. I felt like I was actively getting worse at the job and had lost my passion for it. Listening to this podcast on the way to work has reinvigorated me, gave me great practical advice and allowed me to love teaching again.
Seriously one of the best podcasts around! The long format, the guests, the hosts - I learn and am challenged each and every time. Thank you Craig, love this work.

The show centers on in-depth conversations about teaching practices, educational research, and how ideas translate into classroom realities. Episodes frequently feature researchers, educators, and authors who unpack cognitive science, assessment, technology in the classroom, and strategies for practical, evidence-based instruction—often with long-form, reflective discussions that bridge theory and practice. A standout aspect is the emphasis on actionable takeaways for teachers, plus frequent guest appearances by researchers and experienced practitioners, which helps listeners connect research findings to everyday teaching.
