  • Sound quality of guests not always up to scratch but enjoyable pod when you can hear it

Love the show but disappointed with Carl Hendrick’s sound quality. Enjoy all the nerdy content that Adam and Amy bring us each week :)

  • Disappointing

I came to this after hearing some excellent interviews of Adam Boxer on other shows. Have skipped around thru several eps but cannot listen anymore. By Episode 41 the sound quality has not improved at all, they talk on top of music so that you can’t hear what they say, parts keep skipping and they just waffle on. They need to invest in some better microphones and actually listen to what they are putting out as a final product.

  • Listen on your way to school

It is great to hear educators talking shop and not holding back. Sometimes the episodes may need the “E” but there are not many teachers I know that don’t swear. A fun and helpful educational podcasters for teachers and educators across the globe. Go on - give it a listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why are teachers still putting up displays? With Grainne Hallahan
Q: Grainne, would you like to introduce yourself and tell us who you are and what you do?
Grainne described herself as the head of community at Teach It Up, a daily survey app for teachers that gathers data on classroom realities to inform decisions and ensure teachers' voices are heard by policymakers.
What do you say to a teacher who does rubbish activities? Question Time!
Q: How should a school handle a private setting where parents' demands influence decisions about students' care and discipline?
Treat it as a balance between doing the right thing for the student and managing the business side; establish clear ownership and accountability, and use structured collaboration (PABs) to coordinate across behavior, attendance, safeguarding, and SEND.
What do you say to a teacher who does rubbish activities? Question Time!
Q: What is the instructor's instinct on whether science should be taught by specialist teachers or as a departmental group?
If there are subject specialists, they should teach their own subject; however, there can be a pragmatic case for flexibility in KS3, but generally specialists are preferred for KS4 and beyond to maintain depth and accountability.
Should we ban merits and reward points? Question time!
Q: Another listener asks about mini whiteboard pens: how to manage supplies and what systems ensure students have reliable access?
They describe providing a whiteboard and pens at the start of the year, with replacements available from a central stock, monitored by form tutors, and a deposit system for pens to prevent loss. Regular checks by tutors keep the equipment in good condition and ensure classroom readiness.
Can AI give teachers quality feedback? With Raj Chande
Q: How do they handle data limitations and potential misinterpretations from transcripts?
They acknowledge data gaps, emphasize anonymization, and plan to combine multiple data sources (e.g., HR data, student progress, and context) to improve prediction while maintaining caution about reliance on transcripts alone.
