  • I Wish I Could Be a Guest!

    Warm, engaging and inspiring!

Kate and Mark are so generous, so intelligent, and so attuned to their guests. I just listened to the Alice Waters episode from this week, and was delighted to hear her mention peaches that I used to buy in Northern California. I’m so very grateful to have dined at Chez Panisse, more than once, while I lived nearby! This is really the only podcast I listen to, and I don’t skip it! I always learned something, and I love the end tag of what did you have for dinner.

  • We Need You!

As a healthcare provider, I so appreciate your podcasts that address food from a health and …dare I say political!-perspective. If we think this current political environment is focused on our health and the good of citizens- we need to think again. We are ALL in this together, and we ALL need to start speaking up as citizens who care about the future of our nation. Thanks again for what you do!

Omar Tate and Cybille St. Aude Tate: Assigning Meaning to Every Plate
Q: What makes something black food?
They describe Black food as rooted in history, memory, and invention, emphasizing that there isn't a single monolithic Black cuisine; rather, it is a fluid, evolving space where tradition, identity, and personal narrative shape what ends up on the plate and how it's perceived.
Ted Genoways: The Ongoing Saga of the JBS Beef Plant
Q: I'd like you to recount that briefly, because it immediately caught our attention, and obviously that's why we wanted to have you on.
Ted describes a complex recruitment and exploitation pattern at the Greeley plant, where Haitian workers were brought in on the second shift through a viral TikTok recruitment approach, housed in crowded motels, and pushed to produce much faster output, framed by union reporting as human trafficking.
In Which Mark Chats With Laura Linney
Q: Laura, welcome to Food with Mark Bittman.
Laura expresses enthusiasm and asks a question about how she thinks in terms of taste when creating meals, highlighting her experience and intuition.
Arnold Myint: Writer, Chef, Dad, Gorgeous Drag Queen
Q: What did you have for dinner last night?
I fed my daughter a leek and chicken soup-inspired dish with sliced leeks, chicken thighs, and a bit of rice, plus a playful crab rangoon salad using crab and Nori for a light, improvised meal.
Arnold Myint: Writer, Chef, Dad, Gorgeous Drag Queen
Q: Arnold, are you in Nashville right now?
Yes, I am in Nashville, just back from two weeks in Santa Rosa and then traveling for work, with plans to head to Denver and beyond.
