  • No Propoganda, Please

Good content. Every time climate change is said, credibility and fact die a little. Enough with the propaganda. Where are the 'papers' on climate change? How does the incongruity of the climate change mantra and most recent So Cal fires (wettest preceding 12 months in years) rectify? Climate is guaranteed to change. Always has--always will. Models and epidemiological studies are poor science. Repeating something does not make it true. That is the definition of propaganda.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

ENCORE! Episode 59: Vegetation–fuel–fire feedbacks in patches of longleaf pine (Pinus palustris Mill.) regeneration
Q: What makes this paper special?
The paper uniquely connects fuel loadings, fire behavior, and fire effects, using a large sample size and a well-replicated experimental design at an operational scale.
ENCORE! Episode 59: Vegetation–fuel–fire feedbacks in patches of longleaf pine (Pinus palustris Mill.) regeneration
Q: How can these results be used in management?
Results suggest that managers should consider maintaining multi-age stands and allow clusters of longleaf pine regeneration to thrive for better survival and resilience against fire.
Episode 72: Near real-time indicators of burn severity in the western U.S. from active fire tracking
Q: How can managers use these evaluations to plan for the fire or plan what happens after the fire?
Managers can use our evaluations to expedite the transfer of burn severity information, allowing them to make informed decisions about where to target their actions post-fire.
Episode 72: Near real-time indicators of burn severity in the western U.S. from active fire tracking
Q: Can you tell us why you did this paper?
The paper aims to understand the impacts of wildfires on ecosystems and to provide timely information about burn severity to support emergency responses.
Episode 58: Temporal and spatial pattern analysis of escaped prescribed fires in California from 1991 to 2020
Q: Shu Li, do you want to talk about the paper's impact?
The findings can help fire managers avoid high risk periods and identify regions needing careful burn protocols, while also serving as a framework for similar analyses in other regions.
