Bubbawheat is a man who knows his comic book movies and here he sets out to corrupt others with his movie taste, while at the same time giving them a chance to share thier own favourites.
With a voice that makes you think he should be presenting a late night jazz show, Bubbawheat is both an informative and welcoming host with a fantastic back catalogue of films and guests.
Filmwhys takes a unique approach to discussing films through pairing of superhero films with more classic films. The host does a terrific job of letting you get to know his guest before diving into the show, and giving them time to really get their views out without stepping on them. It feels like a natural conversation in that way, which is really enjoyable. I find myself drawn in by the easy manner of this as opposed to yelling over the top of each other as too many podcasts do. This is a pod ... more
A fantastic podcast made with real attention to details and love
This is one of the rare podcast that I listen to and think wow they put a lot of work into it. Film wise is great for fans of podcast and film with an amazing host I highly recommend you download the show.

I love the concept of this podcast. Two people introduce a film to each other that they've not seen. Usually makes for an interesting discussion.
Bubbawheat clearly has an encyclopedic knowledge of superhero films, and this podcast seems to be designed to broaden that knowledge to film more generally. He’s devised a unique format: each episode he has a guest choose a film he’s never seen, and he chooses a superhero or comic book film that his guest has never seen. They review them both. (I particularly like the way Bubbawheat does a mash-up of the two films’ posters for the podcast art of each episode.)

Bubba's show is an excellent project with each episode featuring a remarkable contrast of two films. One is usually a cinema standard, while the other is a representative of the superhero genre. I have learned a lot about films I haven't seen as well as interesting insights on the ones I have viewed. The constant rotation of guests keeps it fresh from episode to episode. Strong work Bubba!
Listening to the Filmwhys podcast always inspires me to check out the movies mentioned and look a bit more into classics that I haven't watched yet. The questionnaire with the guest is also always interesting because there are a lot of things I don't know about my fellow bloggers. And then the discussion about a superhero movie is always a lot of fun - most of the guests aren't very well-aquainted with this genre (and neither am I), so there's a lot to talk about (and listen to). Thumbs up!

I love listening to podcasts where a movie that I have seen billions of times gets disected and talked about in great detail but there is one thing that sometimes gets lost in those shows and that is the expereince in watching something great for the first time. Bubbawheat is doing just that and experinceing a lot of classic films for the first time for this show. Each week a guest chooses a classic film that everyone but Bubbawheat has seen and in return the guest watches a superhero movie th... more
Bubbawheat is clearly a comic book guy, but rather than limit himself to capes and costumes, he's inviting other film lovers onto his show to introduce him to a classic or well known film he has missed. The ensuing discussion always opens my eyes to things I've missed even in films I've seen a dozen times. In the back half of the show, the tables turn and Bubba introduces his guest to a superhero film they have not seen. These choices range from mainstream to relatively more obscure animated ... more
