  • waste of hours listening

Low quality audio; content is vague and these people who are talking need speech therapy so they can explain better.

  • Fabulous podcast

Based on years of outcome based research. Also

Humorous and a joy to listen to. They can continue to work on reducing a little bit of extraneous noise once in a while that is picked up by the microphones. Cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for this podcast! Thanks to you and your team for sharing your decades of experience and efforts to positively transform the field and (crucially) the therapy outcome success rate with the world. I feel

  • What’s going to happen

I’ve listened to the feeling good podcast for years. I spent time receiving treatment from a team therapist and I own all of David’s books and the audiobooks. I frequently listen to parts of when panic attack attacks to help manage. My feelings of anxiety and fear. I absolutely love the Feeling Great app. I have paid for it since it’s still available would love to keep paying for it. It’s such a great tool for helping oneself, and untying the knots within. It makes me sad that it may not be avai... more

  • Mind boggling

I love this. I wish you hadn’t changed the length of the podcasts. The devil is in the details. I also loved the Hello Rhonda bit. It’s what makes it you. Why listen to all the feedback that is not relevant to the content?

  • Started good but totally forgot about reality

I enjoyed many earlier episodes, I bought the books, but unfortunately although I think Dr. Burns genuinely cares about trying to reduce suffering, the podcast and therapists have contradicted themselves about acceptance, believing people can change their biological sex to placate people and this is the danger of psychiatric and psychological‘care’ today. Nobody is born in the wrong body, and the fact is, gender identity is not reality. It’s disappointing, maybe because they are in California or... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

501: Ask David: Help! Relentless Anger–Nothing Works! Is Freedom of Speech a "Need?" Or "Want?"
Q: How do you handle a relentlessly angry patient or person who is yelling at you for a long time?
Disarm first, acknowledge the valid anger, and use a compassionate, non-defensive stance. If anger continues, repeat the empathy statements and slowly bring the conversation back to the specifics of the issue, potentially taking a break to regulate emotions and revisit with more focus.
497: Why Isn't TEAM More Popular?
Q: What could accelerate adoption of TEAM-CBT?
Providing robust controlled outcome studies, broad accessible training (including free or low-cost formats), and demonstrations of rapid, tangible patient benefits may help overcome resistance and encourage more therapists to learn and implement the model.
497: Why Isn't TEAM More Popular?
Q: Why hasn't TEAM-CBT caught on more broadly among therapists?
Therapists cite easy-to-use, quick-fix therapies, fear of change, high training demands, conflicts of interest with pharmaceutical approaches, and skepticism about long-term efficacy as reasons for slow adoption, despite strong trial data and empathy-based anecdotes.
498: Live Work with Hiral, Part 1 of 2
Q: Can you tell us about what you're looking for help with and the context around your struggles?
Hiral explains a desire to feel relaxed and capable as a mother and student, expressing that she feels behind others and wants to balance personal growth with family obligations, which the hosts use to tailor the session focus.
495: Stop Helping! Here's How. Featuring Thai-An Truong on Codependency
Q: How do you handle a client who clearly does not want to change?
Honor the client's autonomy, keep open hands, and use paradoxical agenda setting to maintain rapport while respecting their pace; relapse can be part of the journey and still be considered progress if the client stays engaged.
