  • The hosts should read Cathy Park Hong’s book

When you have an acclaimed poet and essayist as a guest, you should read the book first.

    You should do some homework.

You shouldn’t lie that you read the book Minot

Feelings at the beginning of the episode.

you shouldn’t joke that you rarely read books but you read this book.

You shouldn’t then admit half way through that you hadn’t read the book.

This is truly stupid, to invite a writer, then not have read her book.

Thank you both for your honest and open discussions that have really opened my eyes to a lot of things I never thought of before. As a Korean adoptee, there was this uncertainty of me being able to relate and being worried I wasn’t “Asian” enough. For better or worse (!), there is plenty of struggle in the realms we do share to go around and to relate to, and you both are amazing for creating this even though I’m discovering it post-completion. Danny Bowien’s episode touched on so much that I ca... more

Love love love this podcast and I’m so sad it’s over. It truly enjoy both Brian and Youngmi and felt like we learned and grew together throughout the length of the podcast. The episodes/topics ranged in seriousness, but they were both always REAL no matter what. I’m so glad both the hosts are getting more work in their respective fields and can’t wait to see what they do next!

I would 100% recommend this podcast even if there won’t be new episodes going forward. I may even re-listen to old epi... more

  • Speaking Directly To Brian and Youngmi

Hey guys. You were the second podcast I ever heard and you guys showed me that it’s okay to be exactly who I am. Seeing myself so much in two people I don’t know never seemed a possibility to me. Brian taught me that it is very okay to be empathetic, earnest, and kind as a man. Youngmi taught me that, whatever makes you different, you should never hide from it—and that you can even use it to your advantage. And the kicker? I’m not even Asian. You guys have reached such a broader community than y... more

  • My gratitude

Thank you Youngmi and Brian for all that you have facilitated, offered and shared through this podcast. Your stories(<3) and jokes(!) have comforted and nurtured me as I navigate young adulthood as an Asian American. Y’all inspire me so much! I hope someday I can grow my own creative practice more… just not sure yet what that will look like. Be well, and I will definitely be watching out for your individual endeavors! Cheers!!
