  • Get educated about your metabolic health!

Shanna Hussin has taught me so much about metabolic health. My doctor gave me a prescription to deal with my cholesterol. Never asked me to measure my waist, never mentioned anything about insulin resistance, intermittent fasting, ignored my triglycerides results on my blood work. I am 3/4 the way on my 90 day reset. I’ve lost almost 20 lbs. 4 inches from my waist. I can’t wait to see my new blood work that I’ll have done after the 90 days. Thank you Shana for all of your education and ... more

  • Thank you Shana!

I have been following Shana for years. As a former fitness instructor gone desk employee I was nervous about gaining the weight I had been trying to help my former clients lose. Shana made my transition easier and as a 45 year old woman that’s pretty amazing. I have enjoyed learning more about the non traditional health recommendations Shana suggests…hello grounding and circadian rhythms!

  • Great podcast!

I have been listening to Shana’s podcast for about a year now! I love that she is a seasoned dietician but also that she is keeping up on the latest information and studies out there. She is also easy to listen to and personable. I also love getting her emails with her tidbits of information on health and nutrition.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 288- From PCOS to PMOS: Why This Metabolic Name Change Matters with Cory Ruth, RD
Q: What dietary approach do you recommend for PMOS, given the myths around gluten, dairy, and restrictive diets?
An all foods can fit approach is recommended; there is no universal requirement to eliminate gluten or dairy. Focus on portion control, nutrient-dense foods, and sustainable patterns rather than drastic eliminations or extreme diets.
Episode 288- From PCOS to PMOS: Why This Metabolic Name Change Matters with Cory Ruth, RD
Q: How prevalent is insulin resistance among PMOS patients and how does it affect treatment?
Approximately 70-80% of PMOS patients have some form of insulin resistance, though not all show elevated fasting insulin or glucose on standard labs; this means clinicians should consider blood sugar regulation even if labs look normal.
Episode 288- From PCOS to PMOS: Why This Metabolic Name Change Matters with Cory Ruth, RD
Q: What are the core reasons behind renaming PCOS to PMOS and what does it change in practice?
The new name reflects that the condition is a metabolic and hormonal issue affecting the whole body, not just the ovaries, and it emphasizes the endocrine, gynecologic, and metabolic components to guide research and treatment.
Episode 281- The Role of Keto and Fasting in Cancer Care: Hope, Nuance, and Real-Life Practice with Martha Tettenborn
Q: What are you seeing now in terms of how patients respond to metabolic interventions alongside conventional cancer care?
Patients often achieve better quality of life, maintained or improved energy, and toleration of treatment improves when nutrition and timing are individualized. Outcomes vary by cancer type and stage, but a combined approach tends to yield the best overall experience.
Episode 282- Rapid Fire Metabolism Q&A: Challenging What You Think You Know About Weight Loss, Fatigue & Blood Sugar
Q: What's harder on your metabolism: eating too much or eating too often?
Both can be harmful, but frequent small intakes can cause repeated insulin spikes and disrupt hormonal signals like leptin. A strategy of fewer, well-balanced meals with adequate protein and fiber tends to support metabolic health more effectively for many people.
