  • Pro Interviewer Digs Deep to the Core of Music

My interview with Neon Jazz host Joe Dimino was a true pleasure because Joe was a consummate professional from his initial contact setting up the interview to the relaxed but thorough conversation of the event itself. Joe does his research on his interviewees and comes prepared with great questions that cover both the big picture of the jazz scene in today’s society and the personal story of the musician. He also *listens* to his guest and lets them finish their thoughts before moving on or ty... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside the 2026 Album Bazrima: Singer Sivan Arbel & Bassist Andrea Goretti Jazz Duo Interview
Q: What do you hope listeners take away from this album?
We hope listeners let the music flow through their bodies and minds, calm their nerves, and find a meditative, universal experience that offers space for personal interpretation while feeling connected to the broader human experience.
Inside the 2026 Album Bazrima: Singer Sivan Arbel & Bassist Andrea Goretti Jazz Duo Interview
Q: What is the core idea behind Bazrima and how did you two come together as a duo?
We came together through a chance meeting in Israel where Andrea was touring Italy and I was vacationing, which sparked a live collaboration that evolved into a full album funded by an organization that supports musicians, allowing the project Bazrima to come to fruition.
Jeff Lederer Interview | There’s a Yearnin’ (2026) Jazz Meets Dolphy & Ornette
Q: So talk to me a little bit about what you're hoping the listener gets from this project.
I hope listeners experience the convergence of three major alto saxophonists—Dolphy, Nelson, and Coleman—while recognizing the composerly craft and not merely the improvisational legacy, and feel a bridge between historical forms and contemporary interpretation that also reflects social and political contexts of today.
Vanessa Collier Interview | Blues Awards Nominee, “Do It My Own Way” & Keep It Saxy Tour
Q: So before we get into your career and coming to Kansas City in April and earnest, I want to start with this.
We discuss the creative pivot following the pandemic, how Vanessa rebuilt her life and music around self-worth and independence, and how that shift shaped the Do It My Own Way album and live performances.
Inside Baltimore Jazz Collective with Todd Marcus | Debut Album Interview
Q: How does the sound come together and how does this collective work so well?
The ensemble thrives by having each member contribute music and by passing the microphone to introduce songs, focusing on Baltimore composers and collaborative leadership rather than a single leader.
