  • Eye Opening 👀

Heard Dr. Berne on another podcast and subscribed to this podcast. As someone who’s had eye issues—myopia, eyesyrain, now cataracts—since I was 8, I appreciate his providing knowledge you won’t get from your traditional ophthalmologist. I like that these are short and focused on specific issues.

Basketball, Vision & Perceptual Ecology: What My New Film Changed in Me
Q: Can stress actually change the way I see, and why do eyesight fluctuations occur with stress?
Yes, stress affects endocrine balance and the nervous system, causing fluctuating vision; reducing stress through movement, lymphatic support, and regulating the body helps stabilize eyesight over time.
Basketball, Vision & Perceptual Ecology: What My New Film Changed in Me
Q: Perception before correction: does that mean you're against glasses or correcting vision?
Not against correction; glasses are necessary for safety and tasks, but wear selective lenses only in certain situations and consider reducing prescription in non-demanding, non-threatening contexts to maintain adaptable visual habits.
Basketball, Vision & Perceptual Ecology: What My New Film Changed in Me
Q: This is from an old patient of mine, who is asking: when I'm outside in nature, my eyes and body feel much more relaxed; why does that happen, and is there a way to bring that more relaxed way of seeing indoors?
Outdoor natural environments reduce visual confinement and overstimulation from screens, and deliberate breaks, hydration, breathing, and eye relaxation strategies help translate that ease to indoor settings; guidance includes balancing screen time with nature exposure and using practical eye relaxation techniques.
The Way We See: An Archived Talk That Still Speaks Today
Q: What about Graves' disease and eye health, especially regarding exophthalmos and dry eye?
Graves' disease can cause eye symptoms like dry eye and bulging eyes; management can include hormonal balance, omega-3s, eye drops, and looking at overall holistic health, including liver/gallbladder function and adrenal health.
The Way We See: An Archived Talk That Still Speaks Today
Q: Does the nerve or the eyes also affect hearing?
Yes, there is a vestibular-ocular relationship; the nervous system connects vision, hearing, and balance, forming a feedback loop that influences movement and cognition.
