  • Amazing podcast

Few folks care as much about promoting the sport and lifestyle of ultra running like Joe. His entire goal is to promote positivity in running and it bleeds through in every “show”. Him and his group is doing everything they can to promote running and helping everyone from every background be the best ultra runners possible.

  • Really Nice Genuine Guy - Tough to Follow or Understand

The host seems like a genuinely good guy, and the podcast occasionally features strong guests and useful information. There are definitely moments when the show provides real value, especially when the conversation is focused.

That said, the communication style can be difficult to follow at times and is far from ideal for a podcast host. The host often jumps around, over-explains points, and could benefit from being more concise and structured, or from producing the podcast with a different hos... more

  • Great Show Please Talk Slower

The content of the show is top tier and so insightful as a new runner. However, as a podcast listener I would appreciate a slightly slower pace of talking. Because the show covers a lot of topics, it is sometimes hard to digest everything when you are talking so fast. I would also suggest less side tangent rambles or phrases like “I always say…” and less lip smacking after pauses/ums.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Glute Pain, Sciatica, Hamstring Issues, and Hip Impingements for Ultrarunners with Kameron Harder
Q: What should a beginner rehab protocol look like for glute or back issues?
Start with full range of motion, ensure hip and low back extension, practice lumbopelvic differentiation (keeping the back still while moving the hips), then progressively load with heavy glute work (squats, deadlifts) once control and ROM are solid.
Glute Pain, Sciatica, Hamstring Issues, and Hip Impingements for Ultrarunners with Kameron Harder
Q: What are the most common glute issues you see in runners?
Kam explains that glute pain often stems from complex interactions including the low back, SI joint, neural tissue, and adjacent structures; differential diagnosis is key as pain can refer from the back or be influenced by hip and pelvic mechanics.
Why Striving for Excellence Is the Key to Better Ultrarunning (and Life)
Q: How should I balance high goals with family and work?
Set clear non-negotiable standards that cover training, recovery, and personal life; communicate them with your coach and family, and allow flexibility to protect relationships while still progressing toward ultra goals.
How to Train for 200-Milers With a Full-Time Job, Family, and Real Life with Sarah Normand
Q: What was your entry point into ultra running and how did you progress to a third 200-mile race?
She started as a road runner, shifted to hiking and fast-packing, then discovered trail ultras through Bigfoot's allure, gradually moving up in distance and complexity while learning from each race and applying those lessons to subsequent efforts.
Lessons From Over 40 races and a first Cocodona with Lila Gaudrault
Q: How do you approach the mental side of hard sections?
She uses a combination of focusing on the next aid station, drawing on past experiences of getting through lows, and thinking about non-running aspects of life to stay grounded and motivated.
