It was a good listen, I did like the reporter, but found it very hard to warm to his buddy, who joined NXIVM. She seemed entitled, fell hard for what she wanted to hear, navel gazing all day and making lots of money. Didn't ever anyone ask how are we changing the world exactly? How to justify navel gazing day in day out and when is it ok to have ONE guy telling me how to live and a buy in scheme is the way to get recruits? I did think 120 years was a bit OTT for Raniere, tho he does deserve 25.
Love the content….but CBC you are a professional media outlet…uploading the podcasts in order seems to be pretty entry level formatting! Super frustrating if you are listening while driving. Easy fix.
The characters weren’t likable— and I call them characters because what a joke. Sarah is so far from the victim, but shows maybe she should have chosen acting after all.
This is a very well done podcast, highly informative albeit also a deeply disturbing story. The parallels with Scientology are wild, which makes it pretty clear that Keith learned from their modus operandi. Sarah was INCREDIBLY brave to come out, Nippy too. They’re lucky to have each other!
I went down this rabbit hole after someone I knew as a child became embroiled and I am more disturbed the more I know. Great journalism and story telling.
