I was liking this pod but something felt off. Little comments here and there gave me the sense that these two have more work to do on their recuperation. Platforming Tolle was what broke the shelf. I wish them the best but I’ll be moving on. Steven Hassan doesn’t have a smooth voice or interviewing style but he’s the real deal. If you’re recovering from cult abuse, listen to a pro. If you decide to stay with this pod, listen with caution and use your best critical thinking skills.

  • So much interrupting

I love the premise of the podcast and some episodes are great, but a constant theme is how much Sarah and Nippy interrupt their guests. I get to the end of most episodes feeling like I didn’t learn as much about the guest as you would expect based on the length of the episode. I’m trying to hang in there, but I’m skipping episodes more often.

  • Great podcast!

Always really interesting conversations. But Nippy… Dylan is not “a-political.” Dude. Come on, now. He just has a mind of his own.

  • Thank you

Coming from a person who is educated and is hyper alert to red flags, and yet has still been a person who can get fooled by someone. Your podcast and especially the last one with Mark is crucial for combatting these type of people. Great job! Love you guys.

  • Once decent. Now? Not really.

The earlier episodes where they could relate to the guests and topic because of the parallels of what they went through were great listens, informative.

The problem for me started when their experiences were no longer relevant to later guests/topics, yet still shoe-horned it in.

Then the continual plugging of the books, The Vow, etc in nearly every episode was tiring as it was predictable.

The listener‑feedback episodes killed it for me. They gushed over praise and sneered at anything negati... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

REPLAY: Dr. Ramani Durvasula on Post-Narc Healing
Q: What does healing look like in practical terms for someone leaving a narcissistic relationship?
Healing involves education, building support networks, therapy informed by trauma, and practices to calm the nervous system, such as grounding and mindful presence, while cultivating a discernment-based approach to new relationships.
REPLAY: Dr. Ramani Durvasula on Post-Narc Healing
Q: Can you explain some of the terms breadcrumbing and future faking?
Breadcrumbing is when small, intermittent signals are blown up to seem meaningful, keeping someone hooked on minimal attention; future faking is promising future outcomes to maintain control and delay real change, often without delivering.
Where are they now? Mark Vicente on the Narcissist’s Playbook (Part 2)
Q: Where do you think your remaining vulnerabilities still lie?
Mark discusses remaining vulnerabilities as tendencies to over-idealize others, overreact with excitement, and project goodness onto people; he emphasizes the need to stay authentic, avoid pedestal effects, and practice real-time honesty about one's own impulses.
International School of Temple Arts (ISTA): Two Insiders Expose Consent, Control, and Cult Dynamics (Part 2)
Q: How did the mediation and external consultants affect accountability efforts?
They often whitewashed the image, kept investigations within ISTA's orbit, and protected the leadership, which led survivors to feel re-traumatized and further disempowered.
International School of Temple Arts (ISTA): Two Insiders Expose Consent, Control, and Cult Dynamics (Part 2)
Q: What drew you to leave ISTA after level two?
The combination of coercive control, coercive sexual dynamics, and the realization that attempts to fix the system were surface-level and ineffective, followed by direct experiences of coercion and manipulation that could not be reconciled with integrity.
