The people Bob interviews are powerhouses that have built enterprises and successful ventures, but don’t lose sight of their value mission and perspective. Elevate Classics: Harry Kraemer on Self-Aware Leadership and the Essential Traits of CEOs
Q: How do you assess whether someone truly demonstrates self-awareness and balance?
By observing whether they are genuinely reflective, can understand multiple perspectives, and admit when they don't know something. True self-confidence comes with humility and the willingness to admit mistakes, which makes them more relatable and credible as a leader.
Elevate Classics: Harry Kraemer on Self-Aware Leadership and the Essential Traits of CEOs
Q: What qualities do you look for in leaders that are worth investing in?
Three core characteristics: the ability to keep things simple, strong common sense and clear, organization-wide communication; plus the capacity to start ASAP and not wait for perfection. These are supported by four principles: self-reflection, self-awareness, balance, and true self-confidence, which together drive humility and people development.
Elevate Classics: Peter Atwater on Confidence, Decision-Making, and the Economics of Leadership
Q: What is your definition of confidence and its role in our lives?
Confidence is not the performative display or self-esteem alone; it is a forward-looking sense of control and certainty about the future, built from preparation and rehearsal, and it depends on the environment and the people around you.
Elevate Classics: Amanda Knox on Wrongful Conviction, Exoneration, and Justice
Q: And you did not assume you were a suspect, right?
Amanda explains that early on, she was treated as a key witness with extensive questioning and sleep deprivation, not initially as a formal suspect, which led to a fragile sense of uncertainty about her own memory and involvement.
Elevate Classics: Guy Kawasaki on Working with Steve Jobs and Innovative Leadership
Q: What was the genesis of Think Remarkable and Remarkable People?
Guy describes starting his podcast after realizing there was immense wisdom in the interviews he had conducted and that condensing thousands of hours into a few nuggets would help a broader audience, especially integrating his filter to present core lessons from many remarkable guests.
