  • My favorite podcast

This show consistently inspires and motivates me not just in work but in life. The people Bob interviews are powerhouses that have built enterprises and successful ventures, but don’t lose sight of their value mission and perspective. Oftentimes, they share a personal and poignant story. I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough and remain a loyal fan.

Perry Marshall On The Power of The 80/20 Rule
Q: How should leaders handle their teams to leverage 80/20 in hiring and performance?
Identify the top two performers who outsell the rest, train efficiently, and avoid overbuilding the team; use disqualification and selective hiring to ensure resources are devoted to the few who will move the needle.
Perry Marshall On The Power of The 80/20 Rule
Q: What are some concrete examples you've seen where applying 80/20 changed the outcome?
One example is a loan company that sped up loan approvals to 30 minutes, which created a high-intake, high-conversion dynamic leading to a $183 million PayPal acquisition; another is focusing on the top 20% of customers and reducing friction to unlock bigger outcomes.
Perry Marshall On The Power of The 80/20 Rule
Q: Can you explain in plain English how the 80/20 rule shows up everywhere in business?
It's about identifying the small set of inputs—customers, products, or activities—that generate the vast majority of profits, results, and value, and then protecting and expanding those while removing or reducing the rest that drains time and resources.
Elevate Classics: General Stanley McChrystal On Character In Leadership
Q: What keeps a leader grounded when everything is changing rapidly?
A combination of long-term thinking, clear intent, and sustaining personal discipline; leaders should plan for multiple scenarios and maintain core values even when plans fail.
Mike Brcic on the Adventurous Life, Building Wayfinders, and Creating Community
Q: How did you reframe success away from ego-driven milestones to lasting fulfillment?
He explains encountering ego goals (like a magazine cover or 150-country target) and realizing they didn't bring lasting happiness, shifting toward craft, contribution, and meaningful transformation through shared experiences.
