I’ve been listening to Jay’s podcasts for years now, as well as buying his zines. He gets bored with the format and changes it up fairly often, but he’s got great taste in music and I’ve learned a lot from him. Thank goodness punks don’t get old, just crankier.
Always awesome, always energetic, always a trip. Mega informative too! Lights up any day or night. Get into the now of today and yesterday subterranean sounds with Jay!
More palatable in a single sesh than Maximum Rock and Roll tho.
Also it’s more like a real radio show.
Just wish they would play pup and direct hit!!!
SIIIIIIIIIKE!!
Keep up the tolerable work!
Love this 'podcast', it's like the radio show I wish existed here in the UK. Dozens of bands and songs completely new to me, some amazing, some terrible, but all trying to do something interesting. I just wish more were available on CD or record, rather than tape!
Keep up the great work 'Jay and the gang'!
great stuff, wish there were more underground rock podcasts. thank you.

A host-curated celebration of sub-underground rock, punk, DIY, and related sounds, mixing vintage and contemporary tracks with personal anecdotes and historical context. Episodes weave in memories of venues, labels, and regional scenes while spotlighting obscure releases and micro-scenes from across the US and beyond. The show often doubles as a cultural tour, with storytelling, band histories, and live-tuning commentary that appeals to listeners who crave discovery, deep cuts, and a sense of community around underground music. A standout trait is the host's long-running, hands-on approach to uncovering overlooked acts and connecting past and present scenes into a cohesive radio-like experience.
