  • Elk Hunter Guest?

Disappointed at the choice of M. Maloof as this week’s guest. Her pride in sport hunting animals in the wild was revolting and puzzling. Surely this hunter hypocrite is no “expert” on love and relationships. People who engage in hurting innocent animals unnecessarily are poor representatives of kindness and certainly unqualified to speak about oxytocin, affection, and love.

  • HRT Truth

Oh my goodness!, this is beyond valuable! If you’re 42 and not yet menopausal get your butt to someone like this woman. I’m 70 and lied to about HRT and breast cancer. Everything I suffer needlessly from is either due to these lies or medical malpractice. Stop with the Dr worship- they don’t deserve it!! If I wanted to be kind I could say most are overwhelming busy but what ever happened to “Do no harm!”?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cracking the Hashimoto’s Code: Toxins, Stress & Smarter Testing
Q: What actionable steps can patients take when dealing with Hashimoto's considering stress and lifestyle factors?
She outlines practical tools: stress reduction, mindful movement like walking, light sun exposure in the morning, reframing language (e.g., 'I get to' instead of 'I have to'), and simple in-the-moment strategies such as deep breathing and bilateral activities (EMDR-inspired tapping or walking) to improve cortisol patterns and overall inflammation.
Cracking the Hashimoto’s Code: Toxins, Stress & Smarter Testing
Q: What are clinicians typically missing when they rely on standard thyroid labs, and how does DUTCH testing help?
The guest emphasizes that standard labs often miss the downstream processes, such as how T4 is converted to T3, tissue-level hormone availability, and cortisol interactions. DUTCH testing extends beyond serum to assess cortisol patterns, metabolized cortisol, and estrogen/metabolite methylation, enabling a more complete picture of how stress and metabolic pathways affect thyroid function.
The Estrogen Myth: Rethinking Hormone Therapy & Breast Cancer Risk
Q: Why is there confusion between progestins and natural progesterone, and why does it matter for cancer risk?
Because progestins are synthetic and can have estrogenic receptor activity leading to different biological effects than bioidentical progesterone; mistaking them for the same compound can mask important differences in receptor activity and cancer risk.
The Estrogen Myth: Rethinking Hormone Therapy & Breast Cancer Risk
Q: What has changed since the WHI-era conclusions about hormone therapy and breast cancer risk?
The panel suggests that blanket prohibitions were too simplistic and that newer analyses and expert opinions show the data to be more nuanced, with estrogen-alone regimens sometimes associated with neutral or even reduced risk and progestins driving more of the risk when used.
How Estrogen Shapes Women’s Health & Longevity
Q: Why is a foundational health approach essential before hormone therapy?
Because overall systemic health (gut function, nutrition, stress management) determines how well any hormone treatment will work and how safely it is tolerated. If the body's baseline physiology is optimized, hormone therapies tend to be more effective and have fewer side effects.
