Bravo! Thank you for interviewing these candidates separately. They spoke like humans, addressing the issues and providing possible solutions. I appreciate your knowledge of the issues and pressing them when their responses did not cut the mustard.

  • Oscars Review

This recent episode with Andrew and Mike was great...just what a movie review show should be. No spoilers were given (I have seen 8 if the 10 noms) and Mike gave an awesome and even handed review of each film. It was fun that Andrew had not seen any of them (yet!). Andrew. my vote is for "The Fableman's" for best picture.

Gearing Up for a Midterm Year with the League of Women Voters

Observer Corps assigns volunteers to local meetings to observe and report nonpartisan, factual information, helping the public understand what happens at meetings and how issues align with League positions.
Gearing Up for a Midterm Year with the League of Women Voters
Q: So what is the League of Women Voters and what does the Door County Chapter focus on day to day?
The League is a nonpartisan, issue-focused organization with a long history of promoting voting rights, informing voters, and coordinating nonpartisan candidate forms while aligning local positions with state and national policy.
Searching for the Real Death’s Door Story with Brennan Christianson
Q: How has modern scholarship changed how we understand Door County's history?
Modern historians increasingly incorporate First Nations oral histories, question earlier biases, and rely on a broader set of sources including tribal historians and newer regional research, which often contradicts long-standing legends and reshapes public understanding of events like Death's Door.
Searching for the Real Death’s Door Story with Brennan Christianson
Q: What did you find about the earliest written accounts of Death's Door and how reliable are they?
The earliest solid written mentions come from missionaries like Crespo in 1728, but many later accounts by Martin and Fox are unannotated and untraceable, making it difficult to verify details; this reveals how fragile the historical chain can be when sources are sparse and one-sided.
Searching for the Real Death’s Door Story with Brennan Christianson
Q: Can you outline what that generally accepted version is and why you weren't able to just accept that on its face?
There are three versions often cited, with the most popular depicting a stark, epic clash between two tribes leading to a violent, defensible 'Death's Door' narrative; Brennan argues this is built on biased, incomplete sources, particularly from Holland, and lacks solid corroboration from reliable Indigenous perspectives, leading to a myth more than a documented event.
