  • I’m out!!

I lost 80 lbs thanks to Charlotte. I couldn’t wait for Mondays….I would go for a walk to listen to the latest episode, then listen again before bed. Lately, tho, it has become nothing more than a reading of negative (Gladys) comments. How is this helpful? Charlotte loved Richard Simmons….why doesn’t she adopt his attitude of positive energy? Brush off the bad and HELP people. She has the microphone….it’s powerful! Sorry….call me Gladys all you want. I won’t be listening!

  • Every episode has some nugget that I needed for the day. Thank you, Charlotte .

I think I first saw you on Instagram. You came up in a real, and I related to every word you were saying, so I did a deep dive into all of your content and found your podcast and I’m so glad I did as a person who has been overweight, my whole adult life, I’m talking 382 pounds what’s my highest weight! I did not use your common sense it approach to losing my weight, but I really wish I had! I lost all of my weight, super quick and white knuckled it through 14 months, but now I am reversing years... more

  • Charlotte Skanes Rocks!

I LOVE Charlotte’s refreshingly honest and 100% authentic coaching style. Having lost over 200 lbs herself with serious health problems, and kept it off, she shares her real life strategies and opinions which often fly in the face of the diet industry and conventional main stream diet thinking. She really explains how to work with your body and mind in a way that just makes you think “Yes! This makes sense!” I love her personality and the pink hair! Thank you Charlotte!

  • Refreshingly honest!

I found this podcast right before the new year when I was trying to get into a positive mindset for the months ahead. It’s been inspiring to hear someone who struggled with obesity be so open and honest about what their own journey. The first episode, her warning that weight loss isn’t fast and it isn’t easy: that’s the opposite of what we are told and (honestly) the opposite of what we want to hear. But it’s the truth. Her mantra of “eat whatever you want, just less” seems so simple but for tho... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

182 ~ Weight Loss Q&A XXXIV
Q: Do you do clean fasting, or can I have diet soda and milk in my coffee during a fast?
I don't do clean fasting, and you can have diet soda or milk in your coffee; the key is to consider how calories and your routine affect your day and overall adherence, not to apply an all-or-nothing rule that could derail you.
182 ~ Weight Loss Q&A XXXIV
Q: Has anyone experienced increased hair loss during weight loss, and what should they do about it?
Hair loss can occur for various reasons during weight loss; if you notice it, talk to your doctor to determine the cause and whether adjustments to nutrition, medications, or timing of weight loss are needed, rather than assuming it's only about calories.
182 ~ Weight Loss Q&A XXXIV
Q: Okay, I have a question about TDEE. How do you know which number is right across apps and online calculators?
The difference often comes from how each tool is set up and the activity level you input; I suggest using an online calculator as a sanity check and then align your app settings to reflect a sustainable pace—typically aiming for about a one-pound-per-week goal by adjusting the deficit modestly.
184 ~ Weight Loss Q&A XXXV
Q: What about maintenance, should I keep tracking or can I stop?
Tracking is not mandatory forever; it's about using it when it helps you stay in a deficit or fine-tune intake, then gradually relying more on internal cues as you gain confidence.
184 ~ Weight Loss Q&A XXXV
Q: How do you handle the last 30 pounds when it gets stubborn?
By accepting the deficit, slowly tightening calories, ensuring fiber and water intake supports satiety, and being willing to adjust strategies while maintaining focus on long-term goals.
