热依拉是新疆大学民俗学教授、人类学家，2017年12月被捕，并被以“危害国家安全罪”判处无期徒刑。被捕之前，她长期致力于研究维吾尔文化中的麻扎崇拜，是这一领域的顶尖学者。今年5月20日，她在监狱中度过了60岁生日。
