「謝謝你，至少讓我知道我不是一個人。」台灣38位沙利竇邁（Thalidomide）藥害者之一林烝助（助哥）與同為藥害者的王挺傑教授碰面時的一句話，道出幾乎在台灣集體記憶中消失的沙利竇邁事件藥害者相遇的重要意義。
1957年，西德一間藥廠研發出宣稱「史上最安全」的鎮靜與安眠藥物「沙利竇邁」，而且可以緩解孕婦的害喜症狀，之後藥物以反應停、易速眠等商品名在多國熱銷；但沒想到，這款藥物隨後帶來有史以來最大的「人為醫療災難」，預估當時全球有1 萬名嬰兒受害；王挺傑和助哥都是當時因藥受害的「沙兒」。
