Now that Radio Four seems to consist mainly of people whining about how oppressed they are, it is wonderful to have these programmes from an era when you had to be a bit interesting, or even to achieved something before being allowed on the radio.
Love these. You learn so much about famous and interesting people. I have them on my phone for offline use.
This is a gift
I grew up with Desert Island Discs on Sundays.....It is an Institution. Hearing what people would take on a desert island with them can be an extraordinary insight into what drives them & their memories. Also you might discover new things to listen to along the way. I can't wait to listen to John Lee Hooker & Jennifer Saunders....
Totally addictive. I have given up reading in bed at night and really look forward to listening to DID's I had forgeotten about. They are still as fresh and interesting as the first broadcast.. Something quintesentially English
Timeless quality program.
I think these podcasts would be my luxury on a desert island.
