Absolute paradise for someone who loves music. An antidote and relief for what the entertainment industry sells branded as music today
What a beautiful show which gets you deep, and helps to discover new music
Deep Focus is like one of those nature documentaries on public TV. Mitch and his guest always do a deep dive, and they take us along for the ride. Even when I think I might not like the music, it’s always fascinating when I hear what they have to say. And thank you, Deep Focus, for expanding my idea of what can be jazz. I have discovered so many new favorite artists from listening to you.
I learn something new about my favorite artists every time I listen to Mitch and his guests talk about the music that moves them. Hearing hard-to-find recordings is another wonderful thing about Deep Focus.
New York radio personality Mitch Goldman presents archived shows from the vaults of great old NYC [mostly] jazz radio station WKCR. Goldman ‘herds the cats’ and guides the conversations to really interesting places. Great for seasoned jazz people as well as a terrific “gateway” podcast for the jazz-curious (and some of the music featured is uncategorizable). Great as both a concentrated listening experience, as well as great background listening.
