Filmmakers Darren Lynn Bousman and Josh Stolberg offer a raw and unfiltered look at how a film gets made as they take listeners through the development, production and post-production of a brand-new film. No sugarcoating. No industry PR fluff. No spin. Just the messy, frustrating but often exhilarating truth about filmmaking... from idea to distribution.

Danielle Harris’ ep brought me here and I stayed around and binged the rest of the pod and am now a weekly listener. I’m also a filmmaker / recovering actor and appreciate their depth, de-glamorizing the process, and how infectious they make filmmaking feel, despite the frustrating and ephemeral nature of it all — especially in 2025.
Great season! Can’t wait for January!
What a ferociously detailed podcast about movies that I’ve grown up watching & adore!! It’s been an epic journey to watch and an epic journey to comprehend the breakdown of behind the scenes! Great podcast, much appreciated!!
Absolutely cherish the show, excited for the future!! EPIC!!
Another great episode! Hear me out, privilege stripper camp. Hahaha. Jk.
As always with you guys it’s entertaining and really enjoy the show.
Quick pitch, at the end of the privilege with cut scenes and teasers, 10 random winners from the privilege find themselves waking up on a plane.
I remember Darren’s insightful blog posts about the Static-X video, etc from 16-17 years ago. These podcasts are straight from the heart and incredibly fascinating.
These guys are so fun to listen to. You can tell how genuine they are and they just seem like a blast to hang with. Addison is great as well! There’s always interesting guests and quality conversation. I’m excited to see what this movie ends up being!!
Great listen this week guys! 5 days is impressive. All the “legos” have I fit to fit to make that happen. Still learning and enjoying what directors have I endure before, during and after.
I love shows about making movies and the process from beginning to end. This is one of the best. Darren was always the best guest on the Movie Crypt and I’m super happy that he finally has his own show.
I’m so glad that I caught wind of this podcast when I did. Darren & Josh are fonts of information and inside knowledge about filmmaking. I think the idea of making a movie from scratch and podcasting the whole process is brilliant. I am all in on this project and can’t wait to see it develop. I think you guys should include Derek Mears in whatever capacity because he’s truly one of the most positive energies I’ve ever seen. You guys are already on the right track with the ideas and I’m certain t... more
They don’t just talk horror - they teach it! And they manage to start at the very beginning without treating the listener like they just discovered Psycho. They say never meet your heroes? F* that - I bloody love it!
Absolutely a huge fan of this podcast! The guys are great and gives an inside look into film making. Also a huge fan of the Saw Franchise, Piranha 3D, and Of course GOOD LUCK CHUCK!!!
This is a podcast that somehow manages to blend the topic of Hollywood “how the sausage is made” and be about celebrating horror. I love the guests and the insight they bring as well as the hosts whose careers overlap been following for years now 10/10

Two veteran filmmakers pull back the curtain on how a movie comes together, sharing unfiltered stories from development through distribution. Conversations revolve around the realities of pitching, financing, and navigating studio expectations, with plenty of candid anecdotes about setbacks, collaborations, and the evolving landscape of horror cinema. Episodes stand out for their practical, hands-on breakdowns of every stage of filmmaking, from writing and pitching to editing and marketing, as well as their willingness to discuss emotional and logistical challenges publicly. The show is especially notable for its transparent, “no fluff” approach and its deep ties to the horror community, conventions, and genre storytelling.
