  • I love this show.

Danish Originals brings such interesting voices from Denmark to life, from creatives to entrepreneurs. Really well produced and the conversations feel natural and insightful. As an American listener, I find the directness and style so refreshing. It’s a perspective we don’t often get, and it makes every episode worth the listen.

  • Original Danish

Danish Originals is a colorful and insightful original podcast portrait gallery of personal journeys in dialogue between Denmark and the U.S.

A wonderful idea and production by AFSMK/SMK. The merging with a selection of an art piece from SMK’s, The Danish National Gallery’s collection is a fine touch, that adds yet another dimension to the individual podcast portraits while highlighting the museum’s collection and engaging in the cultural exchange that motivates AFSMK work.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S11E3. Pernille Ipsen
Q: What was the hardest part of writing seven perspectives into one narrative while avoiding taking sides?
She describes establishing a principle of equal hearing for all seven mothers, resisting the urge to pit them against each other, and using archival material and interviews to let each voice carry weight without collapsing the movement's complexity into a single narrative.
S11E1. Samuel Rachlin
Q: How would you report on this today, in real time, if you were moving to Washington or Moscow again as a foreign correspondent?
He suggests that journalists today lack tools from past generations and need new concepts to interpret a shifting global order, emphasizing skepticism toward smoke screens and the need for a more cynical, adaptive approach.
S11E1. Samuel Rachlin
Q: You actually touch on something that I wanted to ask you about today. When you're the first one reporting from a country, does that change the way you approach things or did it for you back then?
The guest expresses that his mission and professional drive, aided by his background in Russian studies and language, allowed him to open up a country for Danes and tell nuanced stories, rather than just chasing scoops.
S10E9. Natasha Fisker
Q: How did your multicultural upbringing influence your entrepreneurial journey?
Growing up across Germany, the US, and the UK, with Danish and Brazilian heritage, cultivated a global perspective, a taste for design and health, and a belief in the importance of international experiences in shaping business ideas.
S10E9. Natasha Fisker
Q: What trends do you see in social media marketing for your ventures?
TikTok and Instagram dominate for visibility and growth, with YouTube and Shorts playing a significant role; authenticity and organic content, especially generated by users and creators, are key for sustainable growth.
