  • I love this show.

Danish Originals brings such interesting voices from Denmark to life, from creatives to entrepreneurs. Really well produced and the conversations feel natural and insightful. As an American listener, I find the directness and style so refreshing. It’s a perspective we don’t often get, and it makes every episode worth the listen.

  • Original Danish

Danish Originals is a colorful and insightful original podcast portrait gallery of personal journeys in dialogue between Denmark and the U.S.

A wonderful idea and production by AFSMK/SMK. The merging with a selection of an art piece from SMK’s, The Danish National Gallery’s collection is a fine touch, that adds yet another dimension to the individual podcast portraits while highlighting the museum’s collection and engaging in the cultural exchange that motivates AFSMK work.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S10E7. Christian Mathiasen
Q: Tell us about your journey to Joe & The Juice.
Christian describes joining in 2020 after a shift from teaching, rapid progression through store leadership, and a pivotal move to Oslo and later the US, motivated by growth opportunities and a belief in the brand's people‑first culture.
S10E8. Olivia Neergaard-Hom
Q: How did you approach the challenge of editing a one-take film like Victoria?
We rehearsed extensively, shot in long takes, and then our editing process stitched together the strongest moments, ensuring the character's inner drive stayed central and the rhythm remained taut, almost improvisational yet deliberately controlled.
S10E5. Sofie Kvist
Q: Could you describe Gehl and how it differs from other architecture firms?
Gehl focuses on human-centered urban design, emphasizing public life, eye-level experiences, and the social science aspects of how people use spaces, rather than just building structures.
S10E3. Lea Thau
Q: What prompted your move to LA and your shift to Strangers?
A desire for a new environment and the chance to explore longer-form, edited interviews with control over narrative allowed Lea to pursue stories beyond the live stage.
S10E4. Helle Faber
Q: What made you decide to pursue cinema verite and later mix with reenactments?
We explored various storytelling modes to keep the audience engaged, eventually blending cinema verite with reenactments to create documentary moments that felt authentic and emotionally resonant.
