  • Great content, terrible sound.

These guys have great insights and stories. Genuinely interesting fellas. But please sort the sound out. Levels are all over the shop and one sounds like they are in an echo chamber. Can barely hear it sometimes on full volume. Just buy a cheap blue yeti and run it through a levelator. Sorted

Booking The Berzerker & How To Grow a Festival - Q&A #22
Q: How do you determine whether to upgrade a venue when tickets sell quickly?
We assess not just the immediate sales but the production needs, the potential to fill the larger space, and the long-term impact on the festival's experience and brand; upgrades are pursued when the expected gains in show quality and attendance justify the costs.
Tour Tales, Festivals Fails & Angine de Poitrine
Q: Pete Scott's question: How important is it for a promoter to be first to book a hot UK debut performance?
James responds that while catching a hot debut can be a badge of prestige, it's more about sustaining a long-term vision, recognizing when a band is ripe for discovery, and ensuring the slot benefits both the band and the festival in a sustainable way rather than forcing a rushed early booking.
The Security Brief
Q: What's the most chaotic set you've managed, and how did you handle it?
The main stage chaos with a heavy band required rapid crowd-management tactics, platform setups, and standby security to catch crowdsurfers while keeping the stage safe for gear and performers.
The Security Brief
Q: How many guards do you actually need at 5 a.m. at ArcTanGent?
There's no right answer; it depends on the crowd and the venue. Early in the morning you might have only one or two in a gate or pit, but a few hours later you could have eight or ten with a patrol team ready.
Grassroots Venues, Headliner Hopes and Being Cancelled… Q&A #21
Q: How important are grassroots venues to you and what are your favourite memories in a grassroots venue?
Grassroots venues are described as the lifeblood of live music, providing the first stages for many bands and shaping the intimate, sweaty, up-close concert memories that promoters and fans prize most. They reminisce about first gigs in small rooms like Cat House, Barfly, and Lomax, and explain how those spaces foster community, discovery, and the nurturing of artists who later headline larger festivals.
