Great podcast highlighting the less covered part of the sport. I love listening on my runs and learning about the runners to compete in college for the love of the sport! Great podcast to listen to anywhere!

  • Cortland

Just found this podcast and listened to the series on the Cortland dynasty from a couple years ago. It brought back great memories of my brief time there on the men’s team. It did a great job of explaining Jacks understated brilliance. Winning a “Good Dog” award from Jack is probably my most prized award I ever received in my running career. Thank you.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lars Dewall - 2:12 at Boston
Q: What did you learn about fueling and stomach management that you'll carry into future marathons?
It's a real learning curve; I'm working on dialing in a consistent carb intake around 100-120 grams per hour and improving stomach tolerance through more training the gut, especially under the race-day stress and high-mileage weeks.
Lars Dewall - 2:12 at Boston
Q: You've just run Boston; how do you view your performance in the context of the pro field and your own expectations?
I went in aiming to compete and see where I stack up against Americans and the field overall; a 2:12 was within a realistic range on a perfect day, and I'm pleased with breaking into the higher end of that range while recognizing there's room to improve.
Trevor Richwine - D3 Nationals Preview
Q: What's the most impressive workout you've done this season that convinced you you could go after the record?
5 by 300s at 800 pace with 4 minutes rest, running 38-39 seconds per rep, which gave me confidence I could push for 147.
Trevor Richwine - D3 Nationals Preview
Q: What are your thoughts on how you'll approach the final if you make it to the last lap in a national final?
I usually race tactically, sitting on Kale and then giving it everything in the last 150, but I'll try to hang if it's fast so I can drop a quick time.
Ryan Hagan - 1500m Record Holder
Q: What was going through your mind when you saw the heat sheets and knew you could contend for the win?
I focused on competing for the win, listening to splits from teammates and coach, and staying relaxed enough to execute a fast kick; I didn't get overwhelmed by the possibility of a record, I just attacked the race.
