  • Thanks for the endless laughs

These guys are unapologetically themselves, and are living proof that there’s a place for goofiness and absurdity throughout life. On a more serious note—thanks for covering East Coast/New England trail running in all of its badassery and not treating it as an afterthought (like some of the more mainstream podcasts that are really West Coast-centric).

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

357: Take 2 Trail at The Spring Fling 10 Hour with Jess Parker
Q: What makes the gear selection process trustworthy for buyers?
There's a rigorous inspection process where every pocket and tread is checked, photos are taken to highlight flaws, and the item is only sold if it meets a defined standard, with a return policy in place.
357: Take 2 Trail at The Spring Fling 10 Hour with Jess Parker
Q: Could you summarize Take 2 Trail's dual mission in your own words?
The business aims to divert gear from landfills by buying used trail gear from runners and reselling it at lower prices, making the sport more accessible while reducing environmental impact.
353: Liz Derstine Music on the PCT Ridgeline
Q: How does Liz balance music creation with the physically demanding life of trail running?
She describes music as a constant companion that informs her endurance work, while running shapes her musical storytelling; the rhythm of the trail mirrors the cadence of composing and performing, with projects like Ridgeline blending both worlds.
355: Boston Marathon Bulldogs Live
Q: What's the history of the Bulldogs and how did you get involved?
The Bulldogs started about 11 years ago, founded by Coach Mike Ferullo, rooted in recovery through running; the organization grew to multiple locations with programs like Full Circle and Giving Back, and the speaker became involved over time through leadership roles and shared mission.
350: Guitar Playing in the Orange Mud with Josh Sprague
Q: What sparked the idea to start Orange Mud and the first bottle-based packs?
The idea came from wanting a better backpack for endurance activities; the initial pack was designed to be stable, hands-free, and easily refilled, with the concept evolving through user feedback and field testing.
