  • Who says NH doesn’t have culture?

Laura and Sarah are a living testament to how awesome NH is, to say nothing of their impressive guest roster. People always say that NH doesn’t have great culture or art. To the naysayers, I present Creative Guts. Every episode is inspiring, authentic, and just plain old fun. Thank you Laura and Sarah for showing us your creative guys and keep it up!!!!

  • Refreshing and Insightful

Great new podcast about finding your voice, your creative guts. Interviews with creatives and their journeys and how they found and use their creative guts to do their work. Explores the process, what inspires and how creative work evolves. Insightful questions, laughter and a light hearted spirit of both interviewers makes listening most enjoyable.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Creative Catalogue Guest Takeover: Kathleen & Brendan Talk NH Alt Market
Q: What was the inspiration for starting the NH Alt Market?
The idea grew from their own vending experiences at markets and the realization that New Hampshire lacked a dedicated gathering space for artists, which they hope to fill with a funky, niche vibe similar to markets they've enjoyed in the Greater Boston area.
Stacey Durand
Q: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
She would tell her younger self that nobody has it fully figured out, and that even people who seem put together may be struggling. The key message is to embrace the process, experiment, and enjoy making rather than chasing perfection.
Stacey Durand
Q: Who has influenced your work the most, and how do you draw inspiration?
Durand notes she is inspired by muralists and public-art approaches, as well as artists who quietly contribute to the landscape through clever, indirect interventions like sidewalk mosaics. She emphasizes looking at color, process, and the reality of artists who also juggle other jobs and family.
Stacey Durand
Q: What is your role like as a gallery manager at the Lamont Gallery?
She outlines the gallery as an academic space within a private school where artwork isn't sold; instead, the focus is on programming, workshops, artist talks, and community engagement. Her work includes communications, website and social media, newsletters, and developing on-campus programs and collaborations.
Stacey Durand
Q: Where did you start creating in your youth and why did you keep at it?
Durand explains that both of her parents were makers and that she grew up in an environment of constant creativity, which made making feel natural from childhood onward. She describes early experiences drawing at recess and being drawn to practical, hands-on activities, which gradually shaped her path into art and teaching.
