  • How to do Laundry episode

I didn’t know wash loads should be separated by clothing weight. Now I know why my cotton flannel sheets are getting holes - because I’ve always washed bedding & towels together.

I’m going to have to try wool balls or tennis balls in the dryer to prevent static & fluff the laundry.

    Cheers.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

110 - Marketers Often Use Cult-Like Tactics
Q: Mara, are there things we can do to defend ourselves against hoodwink marketing?
Yes. Practical steps include setting specific times to avoid social media, being skeptical of AI-generated slop, recognizing the marketing funnel's collapsed pacing, window-shopping as a cognitive pause, and prioritizing real-world engagement over online impressions to maintain personal agency.
108 - The Travel Show 2026
Q: Are there practical workarounds to get the lowest prices without booking non-refundable options?
Work with a trustworthy travel advisor who can negotiate credits or refunds, and consider fully refundable backup tickets in case plans change; compare prices between refundable and non-refundable options and use travel insurance with cancel-for-any-reason when appropriate.
108 - The Travel Show 2026
Q: So Chris, let's run through some common scams. Explain how bogus search results and fake customer-service pages work.
Scammers create first-page search results and fake toll-free numbers that look like the real airline's contact options; victims are urged to hand over credit card details for urgent rebooking, ending with expensive or nonexistent tickets. Always verify via the airline's published numbers or official site.
106 - Avoid a Vacation Rental Nightmare
Q: How widespread are the problems across major platforms?
The discussion shows widespread issues evidenced by dozens to hundreds of problematic listings, long-standing complaints with the BBB, and delayed refunds or no refunds at all, even when scams are evident in the listings and reviews.
106 - Avoid a Vacation Rental Nightmare
Q: Why did you decide to investigate the vacation rental industry?
Kevin explains that personal experiences of friends being scammed on Vrbo and Booking.com, with support from the platforms being slow or non-existent, spurred months of digging into listings, reviews, and policies to uncover systemic weaknesses.
