  • Much better intro

The music of the former intro was very disruptive and to me didn’t fit with the feel of the show itself. I’m glad they changed that.

Episode 182: The Responsibilities of Elders In The Local Church In The First London Baptist Confession Of Faith
Q: What are the four responsibilities of elders and how are they supposed to operate within a local church?
The four responsibilities are feeding, governing, serving, and building up the church. Feeding involves preaching and teaching the Word; governing means applying Scripture without overreaching into people's lives; serving means self-giving for the sake of others; and building up refers to both bringing people to faith and nurturing their growth toward spiritual maturity.
Episode 160: Antinomianism And The First London Baptist Confession
Q: Did any of the Baptists actually hold to this justification from eternity?
There were some reformers or particular Baptists in the period who entertained or hinted at related views, but later theologians such as Benjamin Keach rejected eternal justification, indicating that the view was not accepted as a lasting part of their doctrine.
Episode 160: Antinomianism And The First London Baptist Confession
Q: Could you perhaps explain that phrase, justification from eternity?
Justification from eternity is the proper way to understand that justification was decreed by God from eternity, and because God's decree cannot be nullified, all of the elect receive the benefits of that decree and are thus justified in eternity; conversion then reveals a status that has always been in place.
Episode 184: The Duties Of Ministers In The First London Baptist Confession Of Faith
Q: I wonder if you might comment on whether there is a distinction or why this particular article is important to us.
Dr. Renihan explains that the article emphasizes the pastoral responsibilities and the relationship between pastor and congregation, connecting it to earlier duties of elders and highlighting the proper calling and place of the minister as central to governance and care of souls.
Episode 134: The Structure Of The First London Confession
Q: Can you outline the First London Confession?
Dr. Renihan discusses the division of the confession into units about God, Scripture, Christ, salvation, the church, and the civil magistrate.
