  • Remington episode wasn’t a banger

The episode with Remington was not good - I felt like he rambled on. He also didn’t touch much on 2024 energy, I felt like they talked about politics for 45 minutes.

  • Microbiome test?

    Hello,

I’ve listened to a lot of your episodes. Your one with the biomefx stood out and I clicked your link and bought the test.. for almost a month my test results have been done… the lab won’t give me my results… they say they were sent to you. I’ve contact you through your web pages, through your practice pages… I spent $450 on this test and at this point it was a massive waste.

BiomeFX will not release my results because they have you listed as the practitioner - when all I did was make ye... more

  • My Favorite Podcast

This is probably the best podcast that talks about more of a functional/wholistic medicine view and I love that they mainly focus on women. This podcast has helped me understand more about how things operate in my body & what would be some things to help me feel better. I reached out to a local functional medicine physician after listening to these episodes and I’m finally working towards getting my body balanced. I love all the different guests & practical ways people can help themselves feel b... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vanessa Spina on Metabolism and it's Impact on Hormones
Q: What are the practical steps a listener can take to implement a ketosis-informed approach without losing energy or muscle?
Prioritize adequate protein (30-50 grams at breakfast), ensure calories and electrolytes are sufficient, allow higher carb days periodically if needed, and maintain muscle through resistance training to support glucose disposal and insulin sensitivity.
Vanessa Spina on Metabolism and it's Impact on Hormones
Q: Is fasting or fasted workouts beneficial for perimenopause and fertility, or is there flexibility depending on the person?
There is flexibility; the main takeaway is that you can do what you prefer and still benefit, as fasted exercise doesn't necessarily confer additional benefits for everyone, and personal schedule and tolerance matter.
Vanessa Spina on Metabolism and it's Impact on Hormones
Q: And so in your mind, how does metabolism impact hormones and where should people start if they're noticing perimenopausal symptoms earlier than expected?
Metabolic symptoms are upstream of hormonal signals; improving insulin sensitivity, reducing inflammation, and supporting mitochondrial function through ketosis or optimized protein can stabilize hormones, reduce fat gain, improve mood and sleep, and may reverse some perimenopausal symptoms.
Dawn Hoezee on ‘Why am I always sick?'
Q: What's your latest favorite biohack?
Red Light Therapy is highlighted as a biohack the guest uses several times a week, observing transformations and improvements over time.
Dawn Hoezee on ‘Why am I always sick?'
Q: What is your current favorite drink of choice?
The guest says her favorite drink is black coffee, a long-standing preference, and she notes that she enjoys a simple, reliable daily routine rather than frequent changes.
