  • Please don’t.

I am currently listening to your episode about spay/neutering. I was very disappointed to hear one of you talk negatively about intact male rottweilers. Please don’t say stuff like that when you have the platform you do.

I am a veterinarian and I own an intact male rottweiler. He has grown up in a loving environment and he is the most loving dog in the world. I purposely keep him intact in order to spread awareness to people in general and colleagues with your prejudice whom can’t see that the ... more

  • It’s tricky when sponsor overtakes content

I have to start by saying I have loved this podcast. I have always thought that I picked up really good tips and solid science but that has seem to be slipping… So your last podcast was the tip of vagueness and left me feeling completely uninspired. It went from a veterinary knowledge podcast to soft marketing for Hills I/d diets and absolutely nothing else other than constant repetition of how cats are hard to treat and food is tricky too. In the start Dr Little mentioned that treatment could o... more

  • Glad it’s here

For a dog lover, negotiating the path of veterinary medicine can be challenging. Between the terminology and the array of treatment options it’s almost impossible for me. I have found that bring patient and trying to separate emotion from treatment is key. That is most difficult. But as they say, knowledge is power. Clinicians brief is one of the best tools in my toolbox.

HCM is a progressive left ventricular hypertrophy that eventually leads to diastolic dysfunction.
Managing the Allergic Flare: Clinical Strategies & Novel Options With Dr. Griffin
Q: What does that look like for you and your hands? How long of a course do you recommend?
I use JAK inhibitors for acute flares and as part of a long-term treatment plan, aiming for early intervention to reduce itching and inflammation.
Managing the Allergic Flare: Clinical Strategies & Novel Options With Dr. Griffin
Q: Can you talk to us a little bit about some of the most common culprits that trigger these flares?
Allergic dermatitis in dogs is typically caused by flea allergy, food hypersensitivity, and atopic dermatitis, which is generally due to environmental allergens.
Protein-Losing Enteropathy in Dogs With Dr. Jablonski
Q: When do you decide to conduct a therapeutic abdominal tap in cases of significant abdominal effusion?
I would consider it when the dog is struggling to breathe or is very uncomfortable; otherwise, I typically wait to see if the effusion resolves with treatment.
Protein-Losing Enteropathy in Dogs With Dr. Jablonski
Q: What is your treatment approach regarding corticosteroids in addition to dietary management?
I usually advocate for introducing corticosteroids sooner rather than later, as they help to reduce inflammation while the dietary changes take place.
