  • Please don’t.

I am currently listening to your episode about spay/neutering. I was very disappointed to hear one of you talk negatively about intact male rottweilers. Please don’t say stuff like that when you have the platform you do.

I am a veterinarian and I own an intact male rottweiler. He has grown up in a loving environment and he is the most loving dog in the world. I purposely keep him intact in order to spread awareness to people in general and colleagues with your prejudice whom can’t see that the ... more

  • It’s tricky when sponsor overtakes content

I have to start by saying I have loved this podcast. I have always thought that I picked up really good tips and solid science but that has seem to be slipping… So your last podcast was the tip of vagueness and left me feeling completely uninspired. It went from a veterinary knowledge podcast to soft marketing for Hills I/d diets and absolutely nothing else other than constant repetition of how cats are hard to treat and food is tricky too. In the start Dr Little mentioned that treatment could o... more

  • Glad it’s here

For a dog lover, negotiating the path of veterinary medicine can be challenging. Between the terminology and the array of treatment options it’s almost impossible for me. I have found that bring patient and trying to separate emotion from treatment is key. That is most difficult. But as they say, knowledge is power. Clinicians brief is one of the best tools in my toolbox.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Sampling Techniques in Veterinary Patients with Dr. Seitz
Q: When should we consider fine-needle aspiration versus non-aspiration techniques?
Dr. Seitz advises that non-aspirate techniques are often more effective, but aspirates should be considered for specific tissues like kidneys and pancreas.
Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Sampling Techniques in Veterinary Patients with Dr. Seitz
Q: Could you start by just talking about why Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Sampling is such a critical diagnostic tool for us?
Dr. Seitz explains that while ultrasound is great for visualizing tissue, the actual diagnosis often requires obtaining cell samples, as ultrasound cannot differentiate benign from malignant conditions reliably.
Cutaneous Lymphoma in an American Pit Bull Terrier Crossbreed with Dr. Pye
Q: What is the relationship between atopic dermatitis and cutaneous lymphoma?
Atopic dermatitis patients have a significantly increased risk of developing cutaneous T-cell epitheliotrophic lymphoma, suggesting chronic stimulation of T-cells may contribute to this risk.
Cutaneous Lymphoma in an American Pit Bull Terrier Crossbreed with Dr. Pye
Q: How do we decide where to biopsy in cases of cutaneous lymphoma?
Biopsy should be taken from the most active lesions and a minimum of three to four lesions, avoiding ulcers to provide complete information for diagnosis.
Cutaneous Lymphoma in an American Pit Bull Terrier Crossbreed with Dr. Pye
Q: What factors help determine whether a patient might be a candidate for surgical treatment?
Surgical treatment is usually for focal lesions without metastasis, but if there are multiple lesions like in Stella's case, it is challenging to perform surgery.
