  • Thinning the Veil

This podcast has been a refreshing, almost meditative addition to my life. I look forward to each episode as a moment to take a deep breath, and give a thought for how to take caring for creation in our busy world seriously and thoughtfully. I end each episode with something to ponder, and an deeper appreciation for an aspect of life that maybe I can strive to do better at. I appreciate the conversation gears towards faith and wrestles with how our physical world is also a very spiritual one as ... more

  • Love the diverse perspectives

One of my favorite podcasts! I always gain insights as well as often practical ideas about how to be a better “earth keeper.” I appreciate the diverse perspectives that share on this platform and the many angles that approach caring for nature…and each other! I also appreciate that they end each episode with hope, the antithesis of a lot of environmental content. The episodes where people read their responses I find harder to stay engaged with (usually the younger people who are featured do this... more

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about Circlewood, and share a moment when someone's relationship with the earth shifted as they started treating it as a spiritual practice?
Circlewood serves many church traditions with greener faith practices and a holistic theology. A notable shift described is when a listener named Rachel began rescuing earthworms and integrating that practice into family life, illustrating a move from seeing care as lifestyle to viewing it as a spiritual discipline connected to meaning, community, and creation.
I and Thou: Nature, Resilience, and Healing for Soldiers, with Drew McGinley | Ep. 149
Q: Can you share a concrete example of how outdoor experiences have aided healing for soldiers?
Taking soldiers on hikes, including to Mount Si areas, where they often experience healing, improved relationships, and a new openness to questioning previous assumptions about nature as merely utilitarian.
I and Thou: Nature, Resilience, and Healing for Soldiers, with Drew McGinley | Ep. 149
Q: How has exposure to different faiths and cultures shaped your approach to ministry and soldier wellbeing?
Exposure to diverse faiths through training and daily conversations has broadened my understanding, helping me guide soldiers to move beyond objectifying views of others toward relational engagement and mutual respect.
I and Thou: Nature, Resilience, and Healing for Soldiers, with Drew McGinley | Ep. 149
Q: Could you describe your role and responsibilities as a chaplain in the Army?
I provide religious support, pastoral counseling, and education on moral decision-making, while also advising commanders to protect soldiers' religious liberties and navigate the First Amendment constraints in real-world scenarios.
Churches Loving Their Places: Brendan McClenahan of TEND | Ep. 147
Q: What is the core aim of Tend and who is it for?
Tend is a free discipleship and outreach curriculum rooted in creation care, designed for faith leaders to mobilize congregations and for anyone seeking a purpose-driven community rooted in place.
